Sonatina for Trombone and Piano
The Sonatina for Trombone and Piano was an exploration into the compositional techniques that were a great inspiration to me. Each movement is in its own distinct style-
I. Moving- explores minimalist and post-minimalist style of composers such as John Adams.
II. Slow, with rubato- explores free atonality and bitonality
III. Proud and marcato- explores the "non-diatonic tonality" of Paul Hindemith.
The first movement was later adapted for the Three Etudes for Piano as the third etude, "Let it Ride."
