Sonata for Tuba and Piano
The Sonata for Tuba and Piano was born from my friend’s request for a tonal and lyrical tuba piece. I jokingly promised him a “mostly tonal” work with some lyricism. Essentially a sonata in G minor, the work employs Hindemith and Poulenc inspired harmonies in a Neo-Romantic style. The Sonata seeks to explore this instrument’s capacity for power, lyricism, and agility in a manner accessible to varied audiences.
